Mem1 (Memorial Lutheran and First Presbyterian) in Texas City is providing an opportunity for their congregation to “Feed 5000” through a partnership with Food King Texas City and The Salvation Army.

On Sunday, September 26, the church will gather for a short service together and then travel to Food King together where each family will be provided with a grocery bag and some money to fill those bags with non-perishable food for the feeding ministry of The Salvation Army.

“We are happy to be part of this effort by Mem1 to bring alive the words of Christ through this active demonstration of love by their congregation,” said Major Nathanael Doria of The Salvation Army. “We will be at Food King on Sunday morning to collect the food so other volunteers can use it to make grocery boxes for those in our community who need a little help getting through the month. We very much appreciate the heart of Mem1 and the support they have provided to us over the years.”
